Garnett Keith, CFA
Chairman Emeritus

Garnett serves as Chairman Emeritus of SeaBridge Investment Advisors, providing his expertise and consultation across the firm’s operations. The Keith family uses SeaBridge as their family office: Garnett and three generations of his family, and their family Foundation, continue to have most of their assets managed at the firm. He also contributes as a member of SeaBridge’s Investment Committee.

Garnett was instrumental in founding SeaBridge in 1996/97 and served as Chairman until his retirement in 2017. Prior to SeaBridge, he held senior roles at Prudential Insurance Company, serving as Vice Chairman and Chief Investment Officer from 1985 to 1996. Before Prudential, Garnett was Vice President of Irwin Management Company, the family office for the Cummins Engine Company family in Columbus, Indiana.

In retirement, Garnett has remained active in the financial industry. He served on the Investment Advisory Committee of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, a major medical research funder, where he was Trustee and Chair of the Finance Committee from 1996 to 2016. He is Chairman of the Clermont Foundation, a private foundation of the Keith family, and serves on the investment committee for 10Talents Investors LLC, a private equity management group.

Garnett holds degrees from Georgia Tech and Harvard Business School. He is a CFA® charterholder and holds the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) designation, reflecting his background in portfolio management, financial planning, and ethics.
